| The Gabon SEZ integrated industrial park with a specific focus on the timber industry will be officially opened on Friday by Gabon's President Ali Bongo Ondimba. It's a joint venture between the Republic of Gabon and Olam International (Singapore). TEREA & FRM International has been engaged to prepare a comprehensive SFM plan for the allotted forest areas.
In an effort to make Gabon SEZ globally competitive specific advantages are being created for the timber processing industry. Companies will be able to source raw materials at no cost, as well as receive benefits in terms of logistics, reduced processing costs and improved productivity through use of the 'cluster' approach.
About 40% of the 1126 hectares of the zone will be dedicated to to timber and forestry processing businesses.
