Linking buyers and sellers of timber products from around the world, TIMBERWeb.COM has created a unified global marketplace where none existed before, said the judges.
The judges were impressed by the firm's global vision in establishing the eMarket and the effective exploitation of a variety of revenue streams through its ongoing development.
The winners were announced at an exclusive awards ceremony in London, England, hosted by UK television personality Jonathan Ross and attended by prominent figures from the new economy.
Mr David Roberts, Chief Executive, Business Banking, Barclays said: "TIMBERWeb.COM's success in the @chievement awards shows just one way in which the Internet can play an important role in the business to business field.
"We are delighted to be able to recognise and reward the innovation and business flair displayed by TIMBERWeb.COM by awarding them this prestigious prize."
Mr Keith Richmond, chairman and CEO of TIMBERWeb.COM, said: "As the leading B2B Exchange in a very fragmented market our business model sets TIMBERWeb.COM apart from many Internet offerings.
"Through our advisers UBS Warburg we will shortly be finalising our pre-IPO funding to extensively develop the model to a scaleable global trading platform, and expand our international sales team.
"The award further demonstrates the ongoing confidence in TIMBERWeb.COM as a serious eBusiness proposition, and the B2B sector of business generally on the Internet.
"I believe this award is a recognition of our success in uniting the global timber community online, and the continual development of our e-commerce platform. Our web presence globally is growing at a rapid pace."
@chievement 2000 was created by Barclays and The Sunday Telegraph to recognise and reward the type of innovation in e-commerce demonstrated by the winners. The competition was open to firms of any size with a UK e-commerce strategy.
The awards were announced on Friday (July 14). TIMBERWeb.COM is headquartered in Suffolk, England.
